Dilled Chickpea Burgers With Spicy Yogurt Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 2 minced garlic cloves
  • 1/2 tsp curry powder
  • 1 (15 oz) can chickpeas
  • 1/3 cup chopped dill
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp tahini
  • 1/4 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper

Directions:

  1. In small bowl yogurt, garlic and curry and ground red pepper, set aside.
  2. Rinse and drain chickpeas; place half the chickpeas in a bowl and use a fork to mash together with chopped dill, shallots, bread crumbs and lemon juice.
  3. Place the remaining chickpeas in a food processor with tahini, cumin, salt and pepper and process until smooth; add to the mashed chickpeas. Stir together and form into 4 patties. Heat 1 tablespoon vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high eat; add burgers and cook until well browned, 10 minutes.
  4. Serve in pitas with yogurt sauce and tomato sauce.
