Ingredients:

  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp pepper
  • 3 cups milk
  • 6 medium potatoes , pared and thinly sliced (6 cups)

Directions:

  1. Make white sauce of first 5 ingredients.*
  2. Place half the potatoes in greased 2-quart casserole; cover with half the onion and half the sauce.
  3. Repeat layers.
  4. Cover and bake at 350 degrees about 1 hour.
  5. Uncover and bake 30 minutes longer.
  6. Serves 4 to 6.
  7. *Shredded cheese may be added to sauce.
