Ingredients:

  • 2 (14 1/2 oz) cans french style green beans
  • 5 tbsp vinegar
  • 5 tbsp sugar
  • 1 small onion (chopped )
  • 5 slices bacon (fried and save the drippings)
  • 3 tbsp bacon drippings, cooled
  • 1/2 cup almonds (slivered or sliced , sliced water chestnuts can be substituted)

Directions:

  1. I drain the beans leaving a small amount of liquid.
  2. Fry bacon and save the drippings.
  3. Crumble bacon and mix all ingredients.
  4. Marinate overnight in an ovenproof dish.
  5. Preheat oven to 300°F and bake covered for 30 minutes.
  6. Uncover and continue baking another 15-20 minutes.
