Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 kg steak fillets
  • 2 1/2 cups red wine ( claret)
  • 1 1/4 cups cream
  • salt and pepper
  • 2 (250 g) cans mushrooms , in butter sauce
  • 125 g butter

Directions:

  1. Cut steak into 1” slices and put into a bowl with claret to marinate 2 hours.
  2. Heat butter in pan, add drained steak; reserve 1/2 cup of marinade.
  3. Panfry steak until nearly cooked, add mushrooms with their sauce, salt and pepper.
  4. When steak is cooked remove, it doesn’t take long to cook.
  5. Add reserved marinade, simmer 1 minute, remove from heat; stir in cream and reheat gently.
