Swedish Dried Fruit Cream

Ingredients:

  • 1 (12 oz) package mixed dried fruit
  • 4 cups water
  • 1/2 tsp ground mace
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 3 tbsp water

Directions:

  1. In a small saucepan, simmer fruit in water until tender, about 15 minutes.
  2. Stir in sugar & mace.
  3. Mix cornstarch with cold water, then add it to the fruit mixture.
  4. Cook over medium heat until thickened, stirring constantly, but carefully to avoid breaking up the fruit.
  5. Chill for at least 1 hour before serving cold, as is; with cream; or over a custard or pudding.
