Polish Fig and Bacon Appetizer (Figs & Pigs)

Ingredients:

  • 12 strips bacon

Directions:

  1. Soak figs in hot water for 15 minutes, or until hydrated and soft.
  2. Trim fat from bacon, so only 1/3 or less of the bacon is fat.
  3. Bake or fry bacon until half done,edges curl but still soft.
  4. Drain bacon on paper towel.
  5. Wrap each fig with bacon and secure with toothpick.
  6. Broil assembled appetizers in oven, until bacon is crispy, about 5 to 10 minutes.
  7. Watch it, so bacon does not burn.
  8. Serve as an appetizer with red wine.
  9. The coombination of sweet jammy center with crispy salty bacon is a crowd pleaser.
