Marie Morris's Church Supper Crescent Rolls.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 (1/4 oz) packages dry yeast , dissolved in
  • 1 tsp sugar , and
  • 1/4 cup lukewarm water
  • 4 1/2 cups flour , sifted (may need more or less depending on humidity)

Directions:

  1. Scald milk. Cool. Add softened butter and salt.
  2. Dissolve yeast and sugar in lukewarm water.
  3. Add flour. May need a little more or less depending on humidity. Dough should be sticky.
  4. Let rise 2 hrs in warm draft free location (alternately cover and place in refrigerator overnight).
  5. When doubled in size, punch down.
  6. Pour onto floured board.
  7. Divide in half and flatten each piece into a round shape.
  8. If desired spread with additional softened butter (may add herb or honey butter).
  9. Cut into 12 wedge shaped pieces and roll into crescent shape.
  10. Let rise in warm place, free of drafts (about 2 hrs).
  11. Bake 8-10 minute at 400 degrees. Brush with more butter while warm.
