Cinnamon Nut Bread

Ingredients:

  • 1 (2 1/2 oz) package dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup lukewarm water
  • 3/4 cup milk, scalded
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 3 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup nuts

Directions:

  1. Soften yeast in water. Combine scalded milk, mashed potatoes, salt and 1/3 cup sugar; cool until lukewarm. Add yeast, mix well. Add 2 cups flour and beat until smooth. Add melted butter, egg and remaining flour and mix well. Knead on floured board until smooth and elastic. Place in greased bowl, cover and let rise 1 hour until doubled.
  2. Punch down,let rest 5 minutes. Roll into 4 rectangles, spread with soft butter and filling. Roll up and seal edges. Twist 2 together and put on greased cookie sheet. Let rise again (covered) until doubled in size.
  3. Bake in a 375 degree oven for 30 minutes.
