Directions:

  1. Prepare and bake cake mix as directed on package; cool.
  2. Pour boiling water on gelatin in large bowl; stir until gelatin is dissolved.
  3. Stir in cold water.
  4. Refrigerate about 1 hour or until thickened but not set.
  5. -
  6. Fold in strawberries and half ot the whipped topping. Refrigerate about 15 minutes or until thickened but not set.
  7. -
  8. Split cake horizontally to make 3 layers.
  9. (To split evenely, mark side of cake with toothpicks and cut with long, thin serrated knife.)
  10. Fill layers with gelatin mixture.
  11. Spread remaining whipped topping over top.
  12. Garnish with strawberries if desired.
  13. To serve, cut with long, thin serrated knife.
