Ingredients:

  • 1/2 lb squid
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 5 garlic cloves
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1/2 cup onion
  • 3 tbsp sugar

Directions:

  1. Clean squid.
  2. Chop tomatoes.
  3. Crush garlic.
  4. Slice onion.
  5. Combine water, vinegar, pepper, sugar, salt, bay leaf and half of the garlic.
  6. Marinate squid in this mixture for 1 hour.
  7. Drain squid, keeping the marinade.
  8. In pan, saute onion, remaining garlic and tomato in the oil.
  9. Add drained squid.
  10. Saute until juice evaporates, about 10 minutes.
  11. Strain marinade.
  12. Add to squid mixture.
  13. Simmer 15 minutes.
