Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. FOR BOTTOM LAYER- Stir together oats, the 1/2 cup flour, the brown sugar & baking soda.
  2. Stir in the 1/2 cup melted butter.
  3. Pat mixture into the bottom of an ungreased 11x7x1 - 1/2 inch baking pan. Bake in a 350 degree F . oven for 10 minutes
  4. MEANWHILE - For middle layer, stir together egg, granulated sugar, the 2/3 cup flour, the milk, the 1/4 cup melted butter, 1 oz melted chocolate, the teaspoon of vanilla and the baking powder until smooth.
  5. Fold in chopped walnuts.
  6. Spread batter over baked layer in pan.
  7. Bake about 25 minutes more or until a wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  8. Set on a wire rack while preparing top layer.
  9. FOR TOP LAYER - In medium saucepan heat and stir 1 oz melted chocolate and the 2 Tablespoons butter until melted.
  10. Stir in powdered sugar and the 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla.
  11. Stir in enough hot water(1 to 2 tablespoons) to make a mixture that is almost pourable.
  12. Spread over brownies.
  13. If desired, garnish with walnut halves
  14. Cool completely on wire rack.
  15. Cut into bars
  16. This recipe is supposed to make 32 brownies but if they look as good as they sound ,I don't think there's gonna be enough!
