Sweet and Sour Cabbage

Ingredients:

  • 3 slices bacon, diced
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp pepper
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar , packed
  • 6 cups finely- chopped red cabbage

Directions:

  1. Put the bacon and onion in a covered casserole and cook in microwave oven 5 minutes.
  2. Stir in the flour and then the vinegar and water.
  3. Add the salt, pepper and sugar and stir. Add the cabbage and caraway seed and stir well to coat the cabbage evenly.
  4. Cook, covered, in the microwave oven for 8 to 10 minutes, stirring several times.
  5. Add enough water to almost cover the cabbage and cook 1 minute more to heat through.
