Ingredients:

  • 2 cup flour
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt ice water
  • have all materials ice-cold. sift flour & salt. blend the shortening into the flour; add enough ice water, very slowly, to hold dough together. chill 1/2 hour or more. roll to 1/4 to 1/8-inch thick and line pie plate.
  • 3 cup flour
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • liquid
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1 tsp baking soda , dissolved in a few drops of vinegar

Directions:

  1. In another bowl, mix molasses with hot water. Stir in baking soda mixture. Can divide liquid among 3 small pies, putting 1/3 among each. Over this, sprinkle crumbs.
  2. Opional: Sprinkle this with chocolate chips; top with dots of marshmallow (I'll find the recipe); top with whipped cream after baking
  3. Bake 1/2 hour in moderate oven, 350 degrees
