Ingredients:

  • 1 cup shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves
  • 1 tsp mace
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 1/4 cups hot water

Directions:

  1. Combine all ingredients, mix thoroughly.
  2. Bake in at 375 for about 25 minutes.
  3. Top with powdered sugar.
