Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Grease and flour two 9 cake pans.
  3. Sift together flour,baking powder,soda,salt,and cocoa. Set aside.
  4. In a large mixing bowl,cream butter and sugar until fluffy,about 5 minutes.
  5. Add eggs one at a time,beating after each addition.
  6. Turn mixer down to its lowest setting and carefully add vanilla and food coloring. Mix until well combined.
  7. Return mixer to previous setting and add flour alternating with buttermilk. Begin and end with flour. Mix until just combined.
  8. Pour batter into prepared pans.
  9. Bake 35-40 minutes or until inserted tookpick comes out clean.
  10. Let layers set in pans for 10 minutes then turn out onto cooling rack.
  11. Cool completely.
  12. Frosting:
  13. Beat cream cheese,butter,and marshmallow creme together until creamy. Stir in vanilla.
  14. Add confectioner's sugar a little at a time until mixture reaches a spreadable consistency.
  15. Frost cake and serve.
  16. Note:
  17. Nut lovers can add chopped pecans or walnuts to the top and sides of the frosted cake.
