  6. Prepare macaroni according to package directions; rinse in cold water; store in refrigerator in pan full of cold water until ready to use.
  7. Combine the following in a large saucepan: flour and pepper.
  8. Add 1/2 cup milk, whisk until smooth. Gradually add 2 more cups of milk, stirring briskly.
  9. Cook over medium heat until mixture just barely begins to boil. Remove from heat; add cheese, stirring until melted.
  10. Stir in macaroni. Pour mixture into 9-inch square baking dish. Mix bread crumbs with butter.
  11. Sprinkle over top of casserole. Wrap, label and freeze.
  12. Thaw completely. Unwrap. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly.
