Ingredients:

  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 eggs

Directions:

  1. Sift flour and measure. Sift again with baking powder, salt and sugar. Cut shortening into flour mixture. Add milk to well-beaten eggs and mix thoroughly with flour mixture. Stir in orange peel and sirup (marmalade). Bake in a moderate oven 50 minutes.
  2. Serve plain with butter or with cheese filling for delicious sandwiches.
