Old fashioned baked beans

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium onion (sliced )
  • 1 (14 oz) can tomato sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1/2 tbsp salt
  • 1 dash pepper
  • 4 -5 slices bacon

Directions:

  1. Soak the beans overnight in cold water.
  2. Pick and rinse beans.
  3. In a large covered pot bring beans to a boil and then simmer for a half an hour-drain.
  4. In a slow cooker combine the remaining ingredients add beans and water to cover.
  5. Cook on high for 5 hours-add water as needed to keep the beans covered.
