Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Wash peas. Add water or stock in a soup pot.
  2. Bring to a boil and cook on low heat for 45 minutes, half covered with lid, stirring occasionally.
  3. Heat the oil in a fry pan and sauté the onions, garlic and ginger until lightly browned and tender.
  4. Add to split peas along with all of the remaining ingredients.
  5. Lower heat and simmer, cover and continue to cook 30 minutes longer, stirring occasionally.
