Grilled Halibut Steaks

Ingredients:

  • 5 tbsp butter
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup (can use 3 tbsp brown sugar in place of )
  • 2 tsp minced fresh garlic (or to taste)
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 pinch ginger powder (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 (1 lb) halibut steaks

Directions:

  1. Place butter, maple syrup, garlic, lemon juice, soy sauce, ginger (if using) and black pepper in a saucepan; heat until the butter has melted (about 2 minutes) stirring constantly, then cool to room temperature.
  2. Brush each and both sides of the steaks VERY generously with the soy sauce mixture, reserving some to brush on the fish while grilling.
  3. Place into a shallow glass dish, cover and refrigerate for up to 4 hours.
  4. Lightly oil the grill grate.
  5. Cook the fish for about 5 minutes per side brushing with remaining sauce (discard any remaining sauce).
