Ingredients:

  • bars
  • 1/2 cup. water
  • 3/4 cup. brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup. dark molasses
  • 3 tblspns. butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup. flour
  • 1/2 cup. wheat germ
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 cup. confectioner's sugar
  • 2 tblspns. brandy
  • 1 tblspn. warm water

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350.
  2. Line a 9X13 baking pan with foil so that is extends of the edges of the pan for easy removal of the bars. Spray foil with cooking spray.
  3. In a 4 qt. sauce pan, combine figs and 1/2 c. water, heat to boiling over high heat.
  4. Remove sauce pan from heat, stir in oats, sugar, molasses, and butter until well blended.
  5. Add flour and remaining bar ingredients and stir until well combined.
  6. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for about 25 minutes or until toothipick comes out clean.
  7. Cool for 10 minutes.
  8. Meanwhile prepare hard sauce glaze. Stir glaze ingredients in a small bowl until blended.
  9. Lift bar cookie out of the pan by the extended foil ends and place on a rack.
  10. Brush glaze on still warm cookie. Cool completely.
  11. Cut into squares or little triangles.
  12. Enjoy.
