Cinnamon Dumplings With Apple Cider Syrup

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp coarse salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1 1/2 tbsp milk
  • 1/4 cup apple cider
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 6 tbsp cold butter, cut in 1/2-inch piece

Directions:

  1. Sift flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon in medium bowl.set aside.
  2. Stir together sugar, and 3/4 cup water in large pan.over medium heat.
  3. Cook without stirring still sugar begins to melt and turns to amber color - about 14 minutes.
  4. Continue to cook, stirring occasionally.about 2 minutes more or medium amber.
  5. Work butter into flour till crumbly.
  6. Whisk butter into flour till crumbly.
  7. Forming a well in the center of the flour mixture - pour in egg.
  8. Stir gently with fork till combined.
  9. Remove sugar mixture from heat, slowly whisk in cider.
  10. Return to heat.bring to simmer.
  11. Using hands, divide dough into 12 pieces.roll into balls -
  12. Drop balls into cider.cook, turning over once or twice until tripled in size and golden brown.
  13. Remove with slotted spoon to a platter and cover.
  14. Repeat with remaining dough.
  15. Drizzle with remaining syrup.
  16. Top with cool whip - .
