Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Melt the butter in a 10 or 12-inch skillet over low heat.
  2. Add the honey, lemon juice, nutmeg, ginger, and pepper.
  3. Stir until the honey liquifies and the ingredients are well blended.
  4. Add the Madeira, bring to a boil, and simmer for 5 minutes. Note: The recipe may be done ahead to this point. Reheat sauce before continuing.
  5. Add the banana pieces to the simmering sauce.
  6. Cook them, basting and turning, until they befin to soften, about 3 minutes.
  7. Meanwhile, place 2 scoops of ice cream in each of the 4 bowls or soup plates.
  8. Spoon the hot bananas and sauce over the ice cream and serve at once.
