Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup. shortening
  • 1/2 cup. almond paste
  • 1/2 cup. sugar
  • 1/2 cup. firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp. milk
  • 1 3/4 cup. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 cup. sugar ; used for rolling balls

Directions:

  1. Beat shortening and almond paste at medium speed with mixer.
  2. Add first 5 ingredients, beating well.
  3. Combine flour, soda, and salt; gradually add to shortening mixture, mixing well.
  4. Roll into 1 inch balls; roll in 1/4 cup sugar, and place 2 inches apart on lightly greased cookie sheets.
  5. Bake at 375F for 12 minutes; cool about 2 minutes on cookie sheets.
  6. Remove to wire racks to cool.... Enjoy....
