Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs whole cloves
  • 1 pint whiskey
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg

Directions:

  1. Pre-heat oven to 325 degrees.
  2. Rinse and dry smoked ham then stud it with whole cloves inserting the thin pointed end into the meat with the flower end exposed on the outside,place in an ovenproof roasting pan and allow to stand at room temperature while you prepare the glaze.
  3. Combine remaining ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil.reduce by about 1/3 volume which should take about 10 minutes.if dish flares up don't worry;it's the alcohol from the wiskey burning off.this is normal,but be careful.
  4. Brush 1/3 of the marinade over ham,cover loosely with foil,then plpace in preheated oven.baste ham with accumulated juices and extra liquid as needed approximately every 20 minutes,for about a total of 1 1/2 hours.
