Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Cut kidney in half; remove fat, tubes and membranes and discard.
  2. Soak kidney in salted water for 2 hours.
  3. Trim fat from steak and discard.
  4. Cut steak and kidney into 1 inch cubes.
  5. Dredge in flour.
  6. In a large frying pan, heat oil on medium-high.
  7. Add kidney and steak and fry until brown on all sides.
  8. Add onion; cook until soft but not brown.
  9. Add boiling water, enough to cover the meat.
  10. Add salt, pepper, basil and Worcestershire sauce; cover and simmer for 2 hours.
  11. Stir in mushrooms and peas.
  12. Pour contents into a 9 x 9 oven-proof casserole dish.
  13. Cover with a biscuit dough crust.
  14. Bake in preheated 400 F oven for 20 minutes or until crust is lightly browned.
  15. Serve while hot.
