Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup crisco
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 3 tbsp red food coloring
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 1/4 cups sifted flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 6 tbsp crisco
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Directions:

  1. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Cream Crisco and sugar together.
  3. Add eggs, chocolate milk mix and food coloring and mix well.
  4. Add buttermilk, flour, salt and vanilla; mix well.
  5. To a small bowl add vinegar and baking soda.
  6. FOLD this into the cake mixture.
  7. Pour into a greased and flour pan.
  8. Depending on the size of your pan bake for about 30 minutes or until done.
  9. To prepare icing: Cream butter, sugar and Crisco.
  10. Add one at a time flour, milk and vanilla.
  11. Beat for 12 minutes or until fluffy.
