Ingredients:

  • 3 cup sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1-1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cloves
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 cup oil
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 3-1/2 cup flour
  • optional
  • 1-1/2 cup raisins , plumped in warm water

Directions:

  1. Add ingredients in given order
  2. Bake 1 hr 25 minutes at 325 in UNGREASED, UNFLOURED baking tins
  3. Cool 10 to 15 minutes, run knife around edges, tap bottom of pan if necessary to remove.
  4. Cool completely before wrapping.
