  3. According to directions, prepare half of pie crust and place in 9 pie pan.
  4. Flute edge and prick bottom.
  5. Combine sugar, cinnamon, salt, lemon zest and flour in a large mixing bowl.
  6. Cook pork sausage and grill onions till brown, drain mix on absorbent paper.
  7. 6.Arrange apple slices in layers with sausage over bottom crust, sprinkling it all with the flour mixture.
  8. 7.Layer into high mound,Sprinkle with cheese,lemon juice and dot with butter.

  10. 8. Combine flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt; cut in butter with a pastry blender till mixture resembles coarse meal.
  11. 9.Crumble brown sugar mixture over apples.
  12. 10.Take remaining pastry roll out flat, cut into s into1/2' strips place over filling weaving over under. Fold edges under bottom crust to seal.
  13. 11.Bake for 10 minutes, then reduce oven to 375 degrees for 45-50 minutes till apples are tender when pierced with a fork.
  14. 1 pie = 8 servings.
