Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Sift flour and salt together.
  2. Cream butter or margarine and sugar well.
  3. Add eggs, flour mixture, soda, and buttermilk; mix well.
  4. Fold in orange slices, dates, nuts, and coconut.
  5. Pour batter into a greased and floured tube pan.
  6. Bake at 300 degrees F (150 degrees C) for 1 3/4 to 2 hours.
  7. Remove cake from oven.
  8. Mix together juice and confectioner' s sugar; pour over hot cake while still in pan.
  9. Cool cake in pan for 20 minutes.
  10. Turn out onto cake plate.
  11. Cool completely.
