  1. Heat oil in 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat. Cook pork in oil 6 to 8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned on all sides.
  2. Mix pork and remaining ingredients except flour and butter in 3-quart slow cooker.
  3. Cover and cook on low heat setting 6 to 7 hours.
  4. Mix flour and butter; gradually stir into stew until blended. Increase heat setting to High. Cover and cook 30 to 45 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
  5. Substitution: Can remove parsnips and add 2 more sliced carrots (if you absolutely must ;-).
