Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves

Directions:

  1. Allow shortening to cool.
  2. Add sugar, molasses and egg to shortening. Beat well.
  3. Sift together flour, ginger, cinnamon, salt, baking soda, and cloves.
  4. Add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients.
  5. Mix & chill.
  6. Form in bolls and roll in couse sugar.
  7. Bake at 375degrees for 8-10 minutes.
