Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. In a saucepan, mix sugar, vinegar and water.
  2. Bring to a boil.
  3. Remove from heat and allow to cool.
  4. Place finely chopped onions in a bowl.
  5. Pour sugar mixture over the onions.
  6. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
  7. Remove from the refrigerator and drain the liquid.
  8. Mix onions with mayonnaise and celery seed.
  9. May put into a blender or food processor if you want a smoother consistency.
  10. Refrigerate until needed.
  11. ***Note: Maui onions are very sweet. If substituting another onion, you may need to increase the sugar quantity.**
