Ingredients:

  • 2 cups warm water
  • 1/3 cup grandulated sugar

Directions:

  1. Heat the oil in a deep saucepan over low-medium heat for about 20 minutes.Mix the sugar and water until dissolved.Cut the potatoes in half lenghwise, and then in 14 in strips.Put the potatoes into the sugar solution and soak for 15 minutes.Remove the potatoes and dry throughly.Test the oil with a couple potatoes, the fries should not get brown too fast.When the temperature is right, put the potatoes in and cook for 1 minute (the blanching stage).Take the fries out of the oil and let cool.When cooled place them in the oil and cook about 5 minutes or until golden.Drain on towls.Salt.
