Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup crisco
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Cream the shortening and sugar together until fluffy; beat in egg.
  3. Sift the dry ingredients together.
  4. Add the dry ingredients to the batter and mix well.
  5. Refrigerate dough 1 hour before rolling into 1 inch balls.
  6. Roll balls in sugar before baking.
  7. Bake 8-10 minutes on an ungreased baking sheet.
