Ingredients:

  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 1/4 cups buttermilk
  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 3 tbsp shortening

Directions:

  1. Mix ingredients and form into flat cakes about the size of your hand.
  2. Place on cookie sheet and bake at 425° until brown, about 25 minutes.
