Ingredients:

  • 1 whole chicken , about 4 lbs
  • 3 tbsp salt
  • 1 piece fresh ginger ( thumb size)
  • 1 tbsp chinese flower pepper (purchase in asian market)
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp msg

Directions:

  1. Fill a large kettle 2/3 full of water.
  2. Add chicken, salt, ginger, chinese flower pepper; bring to boil.
  3. Cover and simmer for 1 1/2 hours.
  4. Remove chicken and soak in 4 quarts of cold water for 1 hour.
  5. Cut into bite-sized pieces and arrange on a platter.
  6. Mix soy sauce, sesame oil and msg.
  7. Pour mixture over chicken pieces; serve cold.
