Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups shredded salt cod fish
  • 1 1/2 cups hot water
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 tsp allspice
  • 1/2 cup flour

Directions:

  1. Soak the codfish in hot water for 3 mins.
  2. Drain and with hands squeeze as dry as possible.
  3. (codfish will expand when wet, but after squeezing it packs back into about 1 1/2 cups.
  4. In a bowl mix together the codfish and potatoes, butter, onion, and spice.
  5. Blend well.
  6. With hands shape into 1 and 1/2 inch bowls.
  7. Roll balls in flour .
  8. Heat oil or shortening to temp of 375 degrees . Fry for 1-2 mins or until balls are golden brown all over.
  9. Drain on paper towels and serve with tomato sauce and coleslaw.
