Classic Baked Acorn Squash

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400.
  2. Cut squash in half lengthwise from stem to end.
  3. Scoop out seeds and string in center of each half.
  4. Score insides of each half several times with a sharp knife.
  5. Place each half in a baking pan cut side up.
  6. Add 1/4 water to the bottom of the baking pan.
  7. Coat inside of each half with 1/2 tablespoon butter.
  8. Add a dash of salt and 1 tablespoon brown sugar to the cavity of each half.
  9. Dribble on a teaspoon of maple syrup to each half.
  10. Bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Cool slightly before serving.
  11. Spoon any buttery sugar sauce that has not already been absorbed by the squash over the exposed areas.
