Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup packed cup& h golden brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup packed cup& h brown sugar ( whatever)
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 tsp flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cups flaked coconut

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375*
  2. Grease 13x9x2-inch dish.
  3. In large bowl using pastry cutter or fingertips, combine first four ingredients until crumbly.
  4. Pat into baking dish.
  5. Bake 10 minutes. Sprinkle chocolate chips over hot crust; return to oven about 1 minute to soften. Spread chocolate evenly over crust.
  6. In medium bowl, beat eggs until thick and lemon-colored.
  7. Beat in sugar and vanilla. Combine flour, baking powder, salt, and beat into sugar mixture.
  8. Stir in coconut.
  9. Spread evenly over chocolate layer.
  10. Bake 15 to 20 minutes.
  11. Cool in pan and cut into 3x1-inch squares. Makes 3 dozen.
