Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. SAUCE Place olive oil in large skillet.
  2. Add garlic and brown for about 2 minutes.
  3. Add ground beef and brown.
  4. Drain off excess grease.
  5. Add crushed tomatoes.
  6. Add tomato paste.
  7. Add nutmeg, oregano and salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Simmer for at least 1 hour.
  9. While this is cooking prepare the filling.
  10. FILLING Trim ends from spinach.
  11. Cook until wilted.
  12. Drain off all excess liquid and squeeze dry.
  13. Beat 2 eggs.
  14. Add cottage cheese and spinach.
  15. Add 1 cup of Italian blend cheese.
  16. Salt and pepper.
  17. CRUST Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
  18. Spray a 13x9 pan (preferrably glass) with non stick spray.
  19. Pour sauce into pan.
  20. Top with filling.
  21. Cover with rest of cheese.
  22. Take one sheet of Phyllo at a time and brush with melted butter until you have 8 layers.
  23. Bake at 350 deg.
  24. For 1 hour or until top is golden brown.
  25. Let stand for at least 15 minutes.
  26. Cut into squares and serve.
