Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Wash the beans and snip off the ends.
  2. Steam the beans for about 5 minutes, until tender-crisp.
  3. Immediately rinse the beans in cold water so they don't continue to cook.
  4. Combine the beans, onions, basil, oil, salt and pepper in an attractive bowl.
  5. Now you have to decide: add the vinegar now so that the salad has an interesting pickled flavor, or add the vinegar just before serving so that the green beans retain their bright color.
  6. I usually choose to add the vinegar just before serving.
  7. Serve at room temperature.
