Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp shortening
  • 2/3 cup ketchup
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • lemon slice
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 tbsp salt
  • 1 tbsp celery salt
  • 1 tbsp pepper
  • 2 tbsp dry mustard
  • 4 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 1/2 tsp thyme
  • 1/2 tsp sweet basil
  • 1/2 tsp oregano

Directions:

  1. Seasoned flour: Sift together to blend evenly and store in tightly covered jar.
  2. Dredge 6 pork chops in 1/2 cup seasoned flour.
  3. Heat 2 tbsp.
  4. Shortening in frying pan and brown chops on both sides.
  5. Arrange in shallow baking dish.
  6. Top each chop with 1 lemon slice.
  7. Combine 2/3 cup ketchup, 2/3 cup water and 3 tbsp.
  8. Brown sugar and pour mixture around and under the chops.
  9. Cover and bake in 350° for 30 minutes.
  10. Uncover and bake a further 20 minutes.
  11. Add water if necessary.
