Ingredients:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup of grated apples (any kind you like. i like the tartness of granny smith)
  • 3 tbsp. sour milk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 cups raisins (optional)
  • 1/2 cups chopped pecans (optional)

Directions:

  1. Sift dry ingredients together.
  2. Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and milk. Beat.
  3. Add dry ingredients and raisins, chopped pecans, and apples. Mix well. DO NOT BEAT.
  4. Bake in greased loaf pan at 350 degrees for 50 minutes.
