Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp clove
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 cup sour milk
  • raisins (optional)
  • nuts (optional)

Directions:

  1. Cream sugar, shortening, and egg.
  2. Add maple syrup.
  3. Sift dry ingredients and add alternately with sour milk and vanilla.
  4. Raisins and nuts are add last.
  5. Pour into a 13x9-inch pan and bake at 350° for 30 minutes or until done.
