1934 -gingerbread  Waffles

Ingredients:

  • 1/3 - cup butter
  • 1- cup molasses
  • 1/2- cup buttermilk
  • 1- 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1- egg
  • 2- cups cake flour
  • 1- tsp salt

Directions:

  1. Put the butter and molasses in a pan and heat it until it boils,
  2. Remove from heat and stir in the milk and soda, along with the well beaten egg....
  3. Dont forget to sift the rest of the dry ingredients together.....
  4. Then add them to the milk mixture
  5. Bake in a hot waffle iron for 1 minute, turn off the power and leave them in the iron for 2- 3 minutes longer
  6. Serve with crushed fruit and whipped cream on top ( or a scoop of vanilla ice-cream and fruit)
  7. Makes 7- 8 waffles
