Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Remove the bruised leaves from the fresh brussels sprouts...if any.
  2. Cut an X in the stem-end of each sprout.
  3. Wash in salty warm water.
  4. Bring the chicken broth to a boiling in large saucepan.
  5. Add the fresh sprouts,salt(pinch),pepper and mace.
  6. Bring to boiling,lower the heat to simmer.
  7. Stir in the chestnuts and cover pan.
  8. Cook for about 15 minutes or until crisp tender.
  9. Remove with slotted spoon to a heated bowl,(save cooking liquid for soup making).
  10. Add butter to brussels sprouts and chestnuts, toss gently.
