Traditional Serbian Cheese Pie

Ingredients:

  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 4 eggs
  • 200 g butter
  • 200 ml cream milk
  • 300 -400 ml warm water

Directions:

  1. PASTRY:.
  2. Mix flour with salt and olive oil.
  3. Add warm water to the mixture.
  4. Beat until compact (approx. 10 min.).
  5. Cut into equal halves.
  6. Spread 1 tbs. olive oil on the top of each half.
  7. Cover with tea towel or foil and leave it for 1 hours to settle down.
  8. On a lightly floured surface, roll out dough to approximately.
  9. FILLING:.
  10. Beat eggs.
  11. Add butter and cheese and stir with cream milk.
  12. Spread the mixture over pastry.
  13. Carefully fold pastry and place in lightly oiled oven dish.
  14. Bake at 180* C for 50 minutes or until well risen and golden.
  15. To serve: Cut into pieces. Serve hot or cold.
