Ingredients:

  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 tbsp. sugar
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon

Directions:

  1. Cream shortening and 1 1/2 cups of sugar. Add eggs; beat until fluffy.
  2. Add flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt; mix well.
  3. Roll dough into small balls.
  4. Mix remaining sugar and cinnamon together.
  5. Roll balls into cinnamon sugar mixture.
  6. Place balls on a greased cookie sheet.
  7. Bake at 300 degrees for 10 minutes.
  8. Cookies will puff up at first, then flatten out with crinkled tops when cooled.
