Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup boiling water

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350.
  2. Cream the sugar and shortening.
  3. Add the egg and blend well. Mix in the dry ingredients.
  4. When well-blended, stir in the boiling water.
  5. Pour into a greased loaf pan.
  6. Bake for about 35 minutes.
